Disability Advocacy & Policy Alliance (DAPA)

Many disabled individuals, their caregivers, and organizations that serve and support them in Arizona’s disability community aim to stay informed on legislation and policies that impact their lives. Some actively participate in engaging and educating policymakers. However, until now, consistent collaboration on these efforts has been limited. That is why

Care 4 the Caregivers and The Arc of Arizona have been diligently working together to create DAPA.

The Disability Advocacy & Policy Alliance (DAPA) is a unified, statewide effort to protect and advance the rights, resources, and recognition of Arizona’s disability community. This alliance group has been recently formed to bring organizations together in order to advocate for our community.  Absolute HCBS is proud to contribute to DAPA's advocacy efforts as an active member. By unifying and mobilizing organizations that serve Arizona’s disability community, DAPA aims to speak with one voice, amplify impact, and become a powerful force for good in shaping policies and legislation.

See below our our core values, and how they align with DAPA's community efforts.

At Absolute HCBS, we believe in an inclusive community for all. In order to create this inclusive community, we must come together to advocate for the individuals we serve each and every day. By doing this, we ultimately create a more accessible and equitable society. Absolute HCBS is built on the principle of equity over equality; everyone, including those with a disability, deserve to have their basic needs met. Together, we can create a long lasting impact for individuals with disabilities and their families.

Advocacy

We advocate for the rights and basic needs of individuals with disabilities by attending and participating in advocacy events, seminars, and state-led meetings. By doing this, we ensure the voices in our community are heard.

Education

We continue to educate our community on helpful resources, policy changes, budget cuts, and community issues in order to preserve the rights of individuals with disabilities.

Collaboration

By working together with other organizations that share the same advocacy goals as us, we are able to make a larger impact on our community and make our voices louder together.

Community

Not only do we aim to work together with other community organizations, we also aim to work closely with the individuals and families we serve. By acknowledging the critical role that caregivers play in our community, we are able to work together to support and advocate for the needs of these families.
